It’s quite impressive for “Air Bud” plays soccer, you could do the same way. I did it by myself with Rocky, my GSD (German Shepherd Dog).

First thing that you need is a good size of ball. You do not want your dog hurt their muzzle either while they are playing with you. In the beginning of game introduction, Rocky pretty much chase the ball and stop it. He doesn’t understand to roll it over .

Cookies and treats are the best training for me. Rocky is food eater and he could probably eat any type of food. But, he is quite fussy in term of Dog’s food. If he doesnt like the smell, you could see him walking away from me :). Well, that is my Rocky. He is full of personality. The point is, to make your dog understands what you want them to do, always start with one good short word command, shows the treat, & shows how to do it in the beginning. Repetion of your commands are great. I took 1 feet other time to show rocky how to roll it & place my hand somewhere arround the ball where he could smell and spot the cookies but expect him to roll the ball a bit. It works eventhough it is not a long roll but I could have fun soccer game with him on the backyard .

With my Rocky, I found that as he grows up his understanding of certain thing is developed a lot faster. So, do not get upsate to your dog just because they do not catch your command immediately. It takes passion to get it done. Love & passion is the best ingredient of dog training :).

This trick will make your dog “Hi-5″ toast when you say “friend”. My dog name is Rocky and he is a pure breed german shepherd dog (GSD) :).

Let’s start the trick !

1. Have your cookies any treat ready (may vary due to your dog’s mood lol)
2. Say “friend”
   If this is your first time teaching your dog this trick, then you have to show him/her by taking one of their
   front paw and do a hi-5.
3. Repeat step 1 and 2. Repeat command and cookies treat will help a lot for this trick :).

Once your dog is expert and familiar with your “friend” command, he/she will give you a big hi-5 !!! I’ll try to take a video shot of this trick so you know what I meant :).
